Some symptoms go straight to a phone call, or to an emergency room when we're closed.

  • Sudden loss or dimming of vision, or sudden double vision: call 911 first
  • Flashes with a curtain or shadow
  • Eye pain with headache or nausea
  • A chemical splash: rinse with clean water for 15 to 20 minutes first, then call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) and us
  • A white spot on the cornea, especially in a contact lens wearer
  • Something stuck in the eye, or a blow to it (a cut or pierced eye: emergency room)
