OptiLIFT Dry Eye Treatment (DMST + RF) in Los Angeles

Function for your eyelids. A lift for your face.

OptiLIFT® by Lumenis is an FDA-cleared treatment for eyelid function: dynamic muscle stimulation (DMST) strengthens the muscles that close and blink, while radiofrequency warms tissue, supports collagen, and helps the meibomian glands flow. It treats dry eye at the lid level — and looks good doing it.

An Optilift treatment in progress
Technologies
DMST + radiofrequency
Treats
Poor lid closure, blink, MGD
Protocol
4 sessions · 1 week apart
Time
≈7 minutes per eye, painless

Consider Optilift if you have

  • Crusty, irritated, blurry eyes on waking — the signature of lids that don’t seal in sleep
  • Nocturnal lagophthalmos or a weak, incomplete blink
  • Lower lid laxity or sagging
  • MGD that keeps returning despite drops
  • A weak blink — OptiLIFT is clinically shown to improve blinking efficiency by about 70%
  • Under-eye bags, dark circles, crow’s lines — and a preference for a natural, non-surgical lift

Function and aesthetics together

After one treatment, our patients have shown improvement in facial sagging, under-eye bags, fine lines and crow’s lines — a more rested look, while the lids protect the eye better.

How it works

Two technologies, one session.

Radiofrequency applied near the lower lid
Dynamic Muscle Stimulation

Targets and stimulates the muscles around the eyes to improve muscle tone and blink strength, so lids close more completely and spread tears with every blink.

Radiofrequency

Gentle electromagnetic heating promotes collagen and skin tightening, softens thickened meibomian oil, and supports healthier gland function.

The procedure takes about 7 minutes per eye, and patients can expect it to be painless. Most feel gentle warmth and a slight muscle twitch, with no downtime.

The numbers

Why lids lose their seal — and what improves.

≈70%

Clinically shown improvement in blinking efficiency with dynamic muscle stimulation of the periorbital area.

3–8% per decade

How much tone the muscles beneath the eyes lose with age: the slow slide toward sagging lids and partial blinks.

60%

Share of dry eye sufferers who also have impaired lid closure.

2.2×

How much likelier loose, saggy lids are to develop eyelid-related issues.

A typical course is four quick sessions spaced one week apart. OptiLIFT isn’t for everyone: it is avoided with pacemakers, defibrillators, other implanted electronic devices, or metal in the treatment area. We screen for this at your evaluation.

The morning test

Waking up crusty, red and blurry?

  • Poor lid closure is one of dry eye’s most missed causes
  • We evaluate closure, blink quality and gland function together
  • Optilift is one piece of a full plan: nighttime protection, lid care, IPL when glands need it

Anything else, call the office at 310-828-2010.

  • A typical OptiLIFT course is four sessions, spaced about one week apart — each visit is quick, painless, and has no downtime.

  • No — it’s a non-surgical, in-office treatment using muscle stimulation and radiofrequency. No cutting, no downtime.

  • No. It is used in an eye-care setting with a medical goal (better lid closure and gland function), and the cosmetic lift is a welcome side benefit.

  • Morning-dominant symptoms are the clue: crusting, burning and blur on waking. An exam confirms it by checking your lid seal and blink.
