MiSight® 1 Day Contact Lenses for Kids in Los Angeles

A fresh lens every morning. Myopia control all day.

MiSight 1 Day is a daily disposable soft contact lens built for children: it corrects distance blur like any contact lens, and its optics are designed to slow how fast nearsightedness progresses. It is FDA-approved for exactly that job — which made it the daytime-lens standard in pediatric myopia management.

How it works

Correct the center, signal the edges.

A soft lens on a fingertip, light through it

The lens carries two kinds of optics at once: a central zone that focuses distance clearly, and treatment zones that change how light lands toward the edges of the retina. That change is the signal associated with slower eye growth. Your child just sees clearly while the design does the second job.

Why daily disposables suit kids

  • The simplest hygiene model in contact lenses: wear once, throw away
  • No solutions, cases, or cleaning routines to forget
  • A lost or torn lens costs a blister, not a reorder
  • A fresh surface every morning is kind to sensitive, allergy-prone eyes

In our program

Where MiSight sits among the four options.

Choose MiSight when

Your child is contact-ready, wants daytime lenses, and life favors a zero-maintenance routine: school, sports, dance, swim days with goggles.

Choose Ortho-K when

Glasses-free, lens-free daytime is the goal — correction happens overnight. Our program leads here: $1,500 total with follow-ups.

Choose Stellest when

Your child is happiest in glasses and wears them consistently.

Choose atropine when

The simplest possible ask (one drop at bedtime) fits best, alone or combined.

Measurements, age and personality pick the winner; progression checks prove the pick is working. Switching or combining later is normal, not failure.

Common questions

MiSight 1 Day, answered.

Anything else, call the office at 310-828-2010.

  • Maturity matters more than birthdays — kids who handle hand-washing and routines do well, and the fitting visit settles it quickly. The lens was designed and studied specifically for children.

  • Daily disposables are the simplest, most hygienic way to wear contacts — no case, no solutions, a fresh lens every day. We train insertion, removal and the house rules before any lens goes home.

  • Both are respected tools in the same program. Ortho-K moves everything to the night and leads our program; MiSight keeps everything in a familiar daytime routine. Your child’s maps and life decide.

  • A backup pair, yes — for early mornings, late nights and sick days. Daytime vision runs on the lenses.

  • MiSight 1 Day has a central zone that corrects distance vision and concentric treatment zones that focus light slightly in front of the peripheral retina. That peripheral defocus is the signal linked to slower eye growth. The lens is worn during the day and thrown away each night, and the effect is measured at progression checks with axial length and refraction.

  • Yes. In November 2019 the FDA approved MiSight 1 Day as the first contact lens indicated to slow the progression of myopia in children who are 8 to 12 years old when they start. In the three-year study behind the approval, children wearing MiSight progressed less, in both prescription and eye length, than children wearing standard single-vision lenses.

  • Coverage for myopia control varies by plan. Many vision plans treat it as elective, some apply their contact lens allowance to it, and flexible spending or health savings accounts generally cover prescription contact lenses. We check your benefits before the fitting. For a comparison with the other options, see Ortho-K.
